Day 1 of Isolation Creation

Day one of Isolation Creation is rainbow rice.

If you can spare a bit of rice, (I know we need to be carful with wasting food) but once you’ve made the rainbow rice it will last forever.

All you need is rice, food colouring and a bit of lemon juice or vinegar. Add as much colouring as you want, a dash of lemon juice, stir and leave to dry over night. If you have a frame with a thick edging to it, they are a great way of containing the rice to create whatever picture your little one can imagine. We went for a sea theme and began to add cardboard fish and bird props for extra effect.

Paint brushes are a great tool for drawing in the rice or if you don’t have any in your home anything like a stick works or any kitchen tools work really well. The colander is a great one to get out, you can create rainbow rice rain 😂 I hope you are all keeping safe and this activity can bring a bit of positivity to your day in this strange time.
